Fusion and lasers creating energy
19/10/2008 by Chris Prettejohn.

The BBC has an article about future the future of energy production could be in the use of lasers squeezing together atoms of hydrogen. But I thought lots of energy was needed to create a laser in the first place? Who knows? Well I guess the scientists at the Iter Fusion venture do.

No more textbooks??
15/10/2008 by Chris Prettejohn.

I predict in 5 years time we won’t be issuing text books to students and they won’t be lugging around heavy rucksacks. Instead they’ll have a plastic textbook reader which will store all theri books and magazines. I can’t wait for a paperless system!! The BBC has an interesting review here![]()

Save the Red Squirrels!
05/10/2008 by Chris Prettejohn.

I’ve
seen a red squirrel on the Isle of Arran, Scotland and on the Isle of
Wight. Unfortunately they’re a rare sight these days due to the
aggressive, bullies that are the grey squirrels, a North American
import.
So what can we do to help. Well according to this BBC report we can report sightings during squirrel week on the Save our Squirrels website which runs from the 4th to the 12th October.
Want to find out more about red squirrels then visit this BBC link

Cool Earth Solar Energy Plants
01/10/2008 by Chris Prettejohn.

I’m fascinated by future energy projects which are low carbon and potential to save our planet. This looks to be the possible future of solar energy. The sun being focused onto a solar cell and very cheap to manufacture. The faq provides answers to a lot of questions. Watch this space.. Cool Earth..
