Climate Change Fruits!
20/01/2008 by Chris Prettejohn.
An upside of global warming may be the ability to grow new types of crops in areas where they haven't been able to grow them before. This is great news for my Dad who has a vineyard in Conrwall and would love to increase his yield. He's always had problem with frost when the vines are budding which can devastate his entire crop. This website seems to take it one step further with a range of polar fruit!

The 50 People who could save the Planet?
05/01/2008 by Chris Prettejohn.

The Guardian has an interesting article on the 50 people from widely different backgrounds who could save the planet. Be they environmentalists, scientists, politicians, entrepreneurs etc.. I especaiily like Elon Musk who made a fortune from PayPal and is now into electric cars using laptop battery technology. His new Tesla Roadster reaches 60mph in 4 seconds and does 245 miles per charge. Who else makes the list?

Could solar power be the way forward?
05/01/2008 by Chris Prettejohn.

This is an interesting article based on a New Scientist article which gets excited about solar power. According to the information all that is needed to power the entire planet with energy from the sun is an area the size of the UK covered in Solar cells. Think about how a developing country in the tropics covered in large areas of desert could potentially make large sums of money from selling their solar power. What about north African countries such as Algeria, Libya or Egypt with large areas of unpopulated land. It just needs political will.
