A fascinating project on major world cities and the impact of globalisation. In 1800 less than 3% of people lived in cities, Today over half of the world's population lives in cities and it's predicted to be 66% by 2050. What effect will this have on the planet? This animated multimedia page will be a changing resource which will add information over time.

El Nino means hunger

Airships make a comeback?

In 1937 after the Hindenburg disaster, where a hydrogen filled airship exploded in New Jersey, USA, airships as a transport mechanism was all but abandoned. However new aero styles will use helium rather than hydrogen and could be a part solution to high carbon emitting other forms of transport.
