Brilliant Data sets and Weather Maps

This is a brilliant resource for showing animated weather maps as well as data feed from weather stations around the UK.  By selecting the options on the right you can get a range of weather statistics either as static images or as an animation.

How about this as an idea for all thos hills around Cornwall??

330 ft sinkhole opens up in Guatemala City!

An AP press article describes how two teenagers, several houses and a lorry were swallowed by a huge 330ft sink hole that appeared in a poor district of Guatemala City.  Initially I was sceptical but the BBC also reported the incident.

These are very strange animals.  The question is are they on the endangered species list?

Solar Shield to Protect us from Global Warming?

Will technology save us from the perils of global warming?  An article in the new scientist thinks so however they should only be deployed as a last resort.

It's worrying to think that we would have to rely on this especially when we have no real idea whether it would work or whether it could trigger something far worse.

Reality Clock

Reality Clock is a very interesting website based around how we consume resources as well as other 'real time' statistics of a geographical nature.  We have to be careful using it as it'll be an algorithm based on estimates which may or may not be very accurate! It is also quite Amerocentric so scroll down for international and world statistics.
